The Rings
A BRAND NEW EVENT FOR 2026!
After a sold-out first year with the River Run Marathon, we changed the course, rebranded the name and gave the marathon its very own day and added on a 50k!
We’ve listened to your feedback and made improvements to create one of the best Marathons and 50ks in the South East of England. You won’t want to miss the upgraded route along the stunning countryside of West Sussex!
Whether you’re a trail enthusiast or a road runner looking for a race with the countryside at its core, this race is for you.
Starting in the grounds of Lancing College just outside of Shoreham-by-Sea, this is one of the most picturesque running races in the UK — views stretching as far as the eye can see when running around the hills of Lancing, Cissbury, Chanctonbury and Steyning.
The Rings is part of "The South Coast Series", brought to you by UKTC.
Organiser's Description
The full marathon & 50K takes you along the river before ascending onto the South Downs Way, where you’ll climb the iconic Chanctonbury and Cissbury Rings before returning to Shoreham. The 50K ultra follows the same route with additional trails winding along the South Downs Way ridge, rewarding runners with breathtaking views stretching as far as Brighton and the Isle of Wight.
With a fully measured course, amazing aid stations, and bespoke finishers’ medals, The Rings is designed for trail enthusiasts of all levels. Enjoy a fully marshalled route, clear UKTC event signage, and the chance to be part of the inaugural Rings adventure. Don’t miss your chance to experience this unforgettable day of running and scenery!
The Course Route will be updated if changes need to be made due to weather and other conditions.

• Complimentary Drink/Snack after the race from the Finishers Marquee. (Collect your t-shirt here if purchased)
• Food/Drink Trucks and Seating for spectators.
• Marshalled Course with a sweeper vehicle to collect any runners dropping out.
You will have the option to purchase a Finishers T-Shirt when signing up or at the event.
Race day photography will also be at the event village and along the route on the course.
There will also be a FREE Baggage drop located next to the Race HQ.
